How long does Advantage Multi take to work on fleas and worms?

In clinical trials, Advantage Multi has shown to kill 98% of existing fleas within 12 hours of treatment. After this time, any fleas that come in contact with your dog’s skin will be affected within 3-5 minutes and die within 1 hour. Advantage Multi works on intestinal worms within 24 hours of application.

How long does Advantage Multi last?

Advantage Multi for dogs is designed to provide month-long protection against fleas, heartworms, intestinal worms and sarcoptic mites.

How often should I apply Advantage Multi?

For continuous protection, Advantage Multi needs to be applied at monthly intervals, ideally on the same day each month.

How do I apply Advantage Multi?

Remove one tube at a time from the packet, and while holding it in an upright position, remove the cap. Break the seal by pushing the other end of the cap into the tip of the tube, then twisting the cap.

Part your dog’s hair between the shoulder blades, making sure that the skin is visible. For dogs with a bodyweight of 20 lbs (9 kg) or less, the entire contents of the tube should be applied in a single site. For dogs weighing more than 20 lbs (9 kg), the contents of the tube should be applied at 3-4 different sites between the base of the neck and the upper back. It is important that the dog cannot reach any of these applications sites to be able to lick the product off.

Can my dog be bathed or go swimming after applying Advantage Multi?

Swimming or bathing 90 minutes following treatment with Advantage Multi will not reduce the effectiveness in the prevention of heartworm disease. If using Advantage Multi for the treatment of flea infestations, dogs should wait 4 days after application before swimming or shampooing.

When can I start using Advantage Multi on my puppy?

Advantage Multi is safe for use on puppies as young as 7 weeks of age, provided they have a minimum body weight of 3 lbs (1.4 kg).

Is Advantage Multi safe for pregnant or nursing dogs?

The safety of Advantage Multi for dogs has not been established on pregnant, breeding or lactating dogs.

My dog weighs more than 110 lbs (50 kg), what dose of Advantage Multi do they need?

Dogs weighing more than the maximum weight listed on the packaging should be treated with the appropriate combination of tubes for their body weight. For example, a dog weighing 115 lbs (52 kg) should be treated with one tube for dogs 88.1 lbs – 100 lbs plus one tube for dogs weighing 3lbs – 9 lbs.

Can I use Advantage Multi with worming tablets?

Yes, Advantage Multi is safe for use in combination with worming tablets.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Advantage Multi?

If you miss your scheduled dose of Advantage Multi, administer a dose immediately and resume a monthly dosing schedule. If you are using Advantage Multi for heartworm protection, speak to your veterinarian about whether a heartworm check will be needed.
